Belgrave Hall The ‘Victorian Lady’ has often been heard walking around the upstairs of Belgrave Hall and on occasions, fleeting glimpses of her have been witnessed by staff on duty.
On occasions, the aroma of cooking has been smelt within the Hall when nothing has been cooked. The smells are usually of fresh bread, stewed fruit and gingerbread – all generally referred to as ‘old fashioned’ cooking methods.
Footsteps are often heard on the first floor landing, doors close of there own accord and room alarms are mysteriously activated when no one is there.
Belgrave Hall has been investigated by many people and organisations, not least Dr Larry Muntz (who the film Ghostbusters was based), Most Haunted (with Vic Reeves) and Ghost Hunters International.
It is a place that is either a very fanmily atmosphere or has a sinister side to it.
If you dare come to Belgrave you will not be disappointed.

The Guildhall
The most frequent visitor is the White Lady, a name given to the phenomenon though she is very rarely seen. The ghost makes her presence known by moving the heavy Tudor furniture around the library and by opening doors once they have been locked and bolted.
On numerous occasions, staff and police have been called out in the evening to attend to burglar alarms which have been triggered by an unseen presence. The White Lady also has a soft spot for the large Bible which is situated on the main table within the library. Staff will often close the Bible in the evening only to find that in the morning it is back open in exactly the same place as the night before. No one has any knowledge to the identity of the ghost.
The sound of heavy footsteps has often been heard crossing the main entrance to the constable’s cottage.
In 2004, Living TV’s ‘Most Haunted’ visited The Guildhall and their mediums, Derek Acorah and David Wells, immediately sensed the presence of Victorian era pick pockets, policemen and an ‘evil presence’ in the cell area. Footsteps were heard in the library roof space, two duelling men were sensed in the Great Hall and many of the crew felt sick in the area of the cells.

Hellfire Caves West Wycombe Caves also known as Hellfire Caves , located in the Chiltern Hills, Buckinghamshire, England, are most well known as a meeting place for members of The Hellfire Club. The caves were extended by Sir Francis Dashwood (later Lord le Despencer) between 1748–1752. They provided work for unemployed farm workers following a succession of harvest failures, and lie close to Dashwood’s country house, West Wycombe Park.
The underground “rooms” are named, from the Entrance Hall, through the Circle, Franklin’s Cave (named after Benjamin Franklin, a friend of Dashwood who stayed with him at West Wycombe), the Banqueting Hall, the Triangle, to the Miner’s Cave; finally, across a subterranean river named the Styx, lies the final cave, the Inner Temple. This is a place that is in total darkness as it decends into the depths of the earth with large caverns and corridors under the ground.
Not for the faint hearted.

Chillingham Castle The Blue boy, poor, wandering, Lady Mary, a tortured child, the Royal procession and so many other famous stories. Chillingham retains them all because the Castle stays calm and unaltered ever since ancient battling days. With all its beauty and calm, Chillingham has many ghosts…. Of course it has. Quite apart from Lady Mary and her friends, the Castle family lived exciting and romantic lives, they served Kings, but then, as William Shakespeare notes, they rebelled, too. With a record eighteen Knights of the Garter, the family also had no less that eight famous, well recorded, executions. Some were hanged, drawn and quartered. While alive, they were cut down from the Gallows, to have their entrails removed. Still living, the failing body was cut into quarters. The head was displayed on city gates, as a warning. Other members of the family, more fortunate, simply had their heads chopped off. said to be the most haunted castle in the uk dare you come with us and spend the night in its haunted bedrooms.

Kenilworth Castle Kenilworth Castle was founded in around 1120 by Geoffrey de Clinton who was Henry I’s Lord Chamberlain. The castle was used by Henry II and King John who improved the defences from around 1210. The keep is built of soft red sandstone and has 14ft thick walls and is around 80ft high. In the time of King John the Finham brook was damned so that a moat was formed on the southern and western sides of the castle. In 1243 Henry III granted the castle to Simon de Montfort but later Simon became Henry’s enemy and was defeated and killed at the battle of Evesham. After the battle of Evesham Simon’s son held out at Kenilworth Castle against Henry III for six months until finally running out of food and water. Edmund Earl of Lancaster, Henry III’s son, was then given the castle. The Lancasters were then associated with the castle including John of Gaunt, Earl of Lancaster, whose son became King Henry IV and the castle became a royal residence again. Let us hunt for the Royal Ghosts that haunt this beautiful Castle.

Pendle hill The phrase Pendle Hill is unusual in that it combines the word for hill from three different languages. In the thirteenth century the hill was mentioned as Pennul or Penhul; apparently from Cumbric pen and Old English hyll, both meaning “hill”. The modern English hill was appended later, after the original meaning of Pendle had become opaque.Geologically the hill consists of an ancient plateau of millstone grit over softer shales on an underlying limestone bed. The historic decomposition of sphagnum moss on the hill has led to it being covered in peat.Pendle Hill is famous for its links to three events which took place in the 17th century: the Pendle witch trials (1612), Richard Towneley’s barometer experiment (1661), and the claimed visitation to George Fox (1652), which led to the foundation of the Quaker movement. A Bronze Age burial site has been also discovered at the summit of the hill. The most popular route for ascending the hill begins in the village of Barley, which lies to the east. This route also provides the steepest ascent. Other nearby villages include Downham, Newchurch-in-Pendle, and Sabden.
